Cashmere keeps your conscience clean

A rather long winter is in front of us. And while we are freezing in the cold, some of us might remember their mothers, aunts or grannies saying: There is no bad weather, there is just bad clothing.

Cashmere is the finest wool

Cashmere is named after a region in south asia that houses large amounts of cashmere goats and still until this day belongs to the biggest producers of the garment. Cashmere is widely recognised for its long-lasting lifespan and its high quality. These aspects turn it into a sustainable fashion product. Cashmere won‘t pill and keep its original form for years. It even gets softer the more you use it while its eight times warmer than wool. Cashmere farms can decide between shearing or combing their goats. Research, however, has shown that combing is a more efficient and animal friendly way, since the animals are not injuring each other while huddling for warmth after they were sheared.

How to recognise the right quality

Even with cashmere, there are differences in quality. For example, you should never pick the softest sweater when you are looking to buy something. A soft sweater probably means that the manufacturer has used a looser knit to minimize the raw material input. The softness is achieved by using yarn that has more short fibers on its surface and therefore will most likely pill. This shortens the lifespan of your new sweater. Another easy rule to remeber is to always choose two-ply or four-ply wool. Ply indicates how many single fibers were twisted together in order to make the fiber as strong as possible.

Cashmere: always up to date

If you keep these simple rules in mind, you can start your shopping trip. Cashmere never gets out of fashion. It looks stylish yet classy at the same time while even keeping you warm in a cold winter. The basic long sleeve sweater is a must-have for every closet. While earthy tones like grey, beige and brown tones are more common, try changing it up a bit by wearing a bright red or green. With that, you can turn a simple outfit into an eye-catcher. If you want to really cuddle up, you should try an oversize sweater, mostly with a v-neck. Some wear it as a longer sweater while others try it out as a dress. And last but not least, you can pimp your winter outfit with a classy cashmere scarf. This accessory will not only keep you warm but also in style through the cold time of the year.
